Why I started PKodes, what I make, and how it's grown.

PKodes is my YouTube channel, where I do mock interviews, talk about my journey as a software engineer, and share my thoughts on all things software engineering.

Why I started it

I started it for one reason: I like helping people.

When I was figuring out my first internship, most of the advice out there felt polished and distant. Nobody showed the messy part: the rejections, the questions you freeze on, the ones you only understand three days later. So I decided to document my own journey instead of pretending I had it all figured out.

I want to show that these goals are possible, especially if you're a student starting from zero like I was.

What I make

  • Mock interviews with engineers working in the industry, from companies like Apple, Meta, Google, and Netflix. Coding and system design, worked through live.
  • Hot Seat conversations with engineers about their path.
  • Day in the life vlogs, from internships to hackathons.
  • LeetCode problem breakdowns.

The whole idea is to show the process, share what actually worked, and be honest about what didn't. Not the cleaned-up version, the actual thinking. Reading about an interview and watching someone work through one are two completely different things.

Community

I also run the PKodes Discord community, a space for people who enjoy coding, problem-solving, and improving by doing.

Milestones

When I started in 2025, I was filming to an empty room. No audience, no plan, just a camera and a lot of half-formed thoughts about interviews and computer science.

  • 300 subscribers: June 2025.
  • 2,000 subscribers: August 2026.

The part I'll never get tired of is people messaging me about an offer they landed.

Start anyway

If you're sitting on an idea you keep putting off because you think nobody will care, start anyway. The first video I ever posted was rough. The only thing that mattered was that it existed.
