How I run KP Designs, from finding clients to handover.

I run KP Designs with Declan. We design and build custom applications for clients, focusing on performance and user experience.

Finding clients

We do some cold outreach to local businesses, but most of our clients come from referrals.

Process

  1. Requirements gathering: a call with the client to understand what they need.
  2. Planning and outline: Declan and I plan the project and put together an outline.
  3. Plan and pricing call: we go back on a call with the client to walk through the plan and break down the pricing.
  4. Build
  5. Handover

Pricing

Pricing is mostly based on scope. We typically offer fixed pricing, not recurring.

Stack

The same stack and workflow I use for everything else. See My Stack and Workflow.

Lessons

Freelancing has taught me how important it is to understand the requirements well before building anything.
